self portrait

2023Experimental video, found objects, yarn, plasticine, wire

Navigating and exploring what it means to be comfortable and content in our own skin means constantly experimenting and cycling through changes. However, there is always a subconscious fear of being perceived, as if every single action is being scrutinised and judged by people in our lives, people who perhaps do not take change very kindly. The complexities in having to express oneself before an unreceptive audience manifests in never-ending iterations to one’s “self-portrait”.

Experimenental film for ADVERSARIAL FRAMES VI (2023) in NTU ADM. Borrowing from adversarial machine learning, which experimentally feeds input into an algorithm to reveal the information it has been trained on, or distorting input to cause a system to misbehave, ADVERSARIAL FRAMES VI is a form of counter-filmmaking in the age of the pandemic, deep learning and machine generated graphics. The first showcase was presented 18-25 April 2019.
